Reading and District ARC were able to field a strong team for VHF Field Day this year. Seven operators and four support crew, including two members from our neighbouring club, Bracknell Amateur Radio Club. The club combines field days with a social gathering and several club members dropped in and stayed for the evening BBQ. Some even arrived in time for breakfast the following morning!
The Reading club ran two stations and worked the 50, 70, 144, 432 and 1296 MHz bands. The 6m band gave some unexpected thrills including contacts with Germany, Poland and to our delight Newfoundland, Canada. Activity was generally good and the lulls were no worse than previous years. At this stage, the logs have been sent and we wait for the results. The weather was kind which made the event even more enjoyable.
