Club Callsigns
MX0AAA – M0AAA
This brings to the end a saga which saw this call first issued on 1/03/1996. It was held on behalf of the Club by a Club Committee member who left the Club later on. The Callsign was renewed by him for a number of years after he left the Club.
The Club subsequently obtained the Callsign M0EEE.
It also included articles about the 1st “M” prefix, (scans of some attached) and letters of congratulation from the various official organisations responsible for Amateur radio at the time. On looking on the 06/07 callbook, I saw that this callsign had lapsed so I concluded that we had the right to re-apply for it.
The Callsign was first aired at a special event Station at Cray Pond Community Hall, using MX0AAA starting at 00.00 hours 1st April 1996.It was a tremendous event because we were on the air much of the previous day advertising the fact that the 1st ever UK, “M” Amateur call would start at midnight. At 00.00 we switched the HF and 2M stations to MX0AAA and the “whole world called us”
It was just incredible.
